Come join Saltwater Safari Tours for a sightseeing and wildlife adventure into the heart of the Kenai Fjords National Park and the Alaska Maritime Wildlife Refuge!
Altered by tectonic convulsions and heavy glacial activity, the Kenai Fjords National Park is a coastline that is constantly on the move. This vast region encompasses an area of over 1,046 square miles, with over 800 nautical miles of seacoast that has been sculpted into an intricate maze of twisted coves, ice-clogged bays, rocky outstretched capes and 38 glaciers, forming one of the most pristine, scenic treasures on this planet. Words cannot even begin to describe the true majesty of the Kenai Fjords National Park. You have to see it to believe it!
The Kenai Fjords National Park is the home of a wide variety of Alaskan wildlife. Humpback, Gray and Orca whales frequent these waters. You can also expect to see Stellar Sea Lions, Dall's Porpoise, Sea Otters, Bald Eagles and a tremendous variety of marine birds that migrate to this breeding ground every summer. The Kenai Fjords National Park hosts the largest concentration of wildlife on the Kenai Peninsula, including brown bears, black bears and mountain goats.
The team at Saltwater Safari Tours will guide you on your Kenai Fjords National Park adventure! We offer both full and half day tours of the Kenai Fjords National Park on our fast and stable 53' vessels Legend and Legacy. Unlike other tour companies that pack their vessels with several hundred guests, we limit our groups to a maximum of 16 passengers, offering a comfortable and more personalized experience! Our 360° walk-around decks, roomy cabin and short passenger list all adds up to a comfortable and enjoyable trip into the Kenai Fjords National Park!
If you're short on time, the 4-hour bay tour is an excellent choice. We see it as a quick but delightful glimpse of the stunning surroundings. This tour takes you along 24 miles of coastline and sets sail twice a day, at 7 am and 12 pm.
Explore more than 40 miles of coastline with this option, beginning with Resurrection Bay and extending into the Gulf and National Park. You'll encounter a maximum amount of wildlife on this journey. The tour also takes you back into Aialik Bay, providing a close-up view of the awe-inspiring Holgate Glacier. Departure is at 7 am, and you'll return to Seward by 2 pm.
Without a doubt, this is our top favorite among the touring options we have! Our 8-hour trip ensures you get the complete Alaskan experience, covering the same 40-mile stretch as the 7-hour tour. What sets it apart is an additional hour dedicated to some light tackle fishing for Rockfish or Salmon (typically seen from July to August).
This trip is perfect for even those new to angling, as we have a skilled crew on board to guide you through techniques and assist as needed. While the focus is primarily on sightseeing, everyone gets a taste of the fishing delights Alaska has to offer!
You can catch up to 3 rockfish per person and up to 6 Salmon per person. Our crew will expertly fillet your catch, and you have the option to get your fish vacuum-sealed and shipped in town, or enjoy having it cooked at several local restaurants!
Prior to checking in at our office the morning of the tour, you will need to have an Alaska Sportfishing license which can be purchased online at Alaska.gov
