Plan Ahead for Your Dream Alaska Vacation: Tips for a Busy 2025 Season
December 23, 2024
Although we are in our offseason from operating, it’s been a very busy winter for us. We anticipate next summer to be a busy tourism season for Alaska and have already seen a huge increase in reservations for the 2025 season!
The Kenai Peninsula generally gets 1.4 million visitors a year, so at times the small towns like Seward get a huge increase in population during those times. So if this is your first time traveling to Alaska, here’s a few things to consider to help book your dream vacation!
- Figure out your lodging and hotel accommodations first. There are lots of excursions that you can choose to do while in Alaska but not everyone will want to do the same ones, but EVERYONE needs a bed to sleep in. So hotels and lodging tend to fill up the fastest. The busiest months for tourism in Alaska are June 10th – August 31st so if you are thinking of coming up during that time, you definitely want to get a jump on reserving things. Guests generally reserve their hotels 8 to 12 months in advance. We have a beautiful 10 room lodge right on the water that overlooks the Seward small boat harbor, but tends to fill up extremely fast due to our location and quality of rooms. We also have a gorgeous 3bed/2 bath home in a quiet subdivision located just a few miles from the boat harbor
- Although there are lots of ways to get around without a rental car, if you’re planning on covering a lot of the state then a rental car is something you’d want to get reserved well in advance. If you’re looking to just come to Seward and Anchorage then a rental car isn’t necessary. You can get around with local taxis, Sewards free shuttle, the Alaska Railroad, and a few ride services from Anchorage to Seward.
- RV Campers are a great option to travel Alaska, and they tend to get reserved up fast! So if you’re looking to tour Alaska with an RV then you’d definitely want to get this reserved asap. Also reserve your spots in the campgrounds of the towns you plan on visiting as there are limited spaces available.
- If you’re coming to Alaska then you’re probably looking for an adventure, and there are so many excursions to choose from! One of the most popular ones would be a fishing charter. The fishing season runs May through September but it’s definitely harder to find a boat available once we hit the middle of June, especially July and August. If you have a larger party of 4+ people, it’s also considerably harder to find a boat last minute. The most popular option are full day halibut trips which tend to fill up the fastest. We have 3 beautiful boats that can be seen on the vessels and crew tab at the top of this page!
We want to wish everyone a Happy Holiday season and are excited to see all our repeat and new customers next season!
