2026 Fuel Surcharge Update for Saltwater Safari Company Guests
May 22, 2026
At Saltwater Safari Company, we are excited for another incredible fishing season in Seward, Alaska, and we sincerely appreciate the continued support of our guests. For nearly 35 years, we have worked hard to provide unforgettable Alaska fishing experiences while maintaining fair and predictable pricing for our clients.
As we head into the 2026 season, we want to share an important update regarding a temporary fuel surcharge that will apply to our fishing charters.
Why We Are Adding a Fuel Surcharge
Like many businesses across Alaska and beyond, we have experienced a significant increase in operating costs due to rising marine diesel fuel prices. Current marine fuel costs in Alaska have climbed to over $6.00 per gallon, creating a major impact on offshore charter operations—especially for longer-range trips into the Kenai Fjords and surrounding waters.
Over the years, we have done our best to absorb increasing expenses whenever possible. However, fuel remains one of the largest operating costs for our vessels, and implementing a temporary surcharge has become necessary in order to continue providing the level of safety, reliability, equipment, and service our guests expect.
2026 Fuel Surcharge Details
Beginning with the 2026 season, a temporary fuel surcharge of $25 per person will be added to all fishing charters.
This surcharge will:
- Be clearly listed on booking confirmations and final invoices
- Help offset extraordinary fuel cost increases
- Allow us to continue operating safely and efficiently without cutting corners
Our Commitment to Our Guests
We understand that many of our guests are experiencing similar cost increases in travel, shipping, and everyday life. Your understanding and continued support truly mean a great deal to us.
Saltwater Safari Company remains fully committed to delivering the exceptional Alaska fishing adventures our guests have come to expect. We will continue monitoring fuel markets closely, and if fuel prices stabilize, we will gladly adjust or remove the surcharge when possible.
If you have any questions about your upcoming trip or this update, please feel free to contact our team at any time.
We look forward to welcoming you back to Seward for an unforgettable 2026 fishing season.
Tight lines and fair winds,
Saltwater Safari Company
